Winner of the James Beard Foundation’s “Regional Best Chef California” 1993 and “Outstanding Chef in America” in 1996 the acclaimed Chef Jeremiah Towers will curate and prepare a special dinner menu to be served at Parkway Grill from Tuesday, November 6 - Thursday, November 8, 2018. Considered the first American Celebrity Chef, Jeremiah Tower is credited with pioneering California Cuisine, which glorified all things fresh and local. Former co-owner and Executive Chef of the critically acclaimed Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA, Towers then went on to open his own renowned restaurant Stars in San Francisco, Seattle and Manila. Stars was one of the most glamorous, top-grossing restaurants in America. It was so popular at its heyday that it was nearly impossible to procure a reservation. Tower has authored several successful cookbooks, including the James Beard Foundation Winner “Jeremiah Tower's New American Classics” and was inducted into the Nation’s Restaurant News Fine Dining Hall of Fame in 1991. Tower’s life and influence on the culinary world was broadcast in the recent biographical documentary, "Jeremiah Tower: The Last Magnificent" (2016) produced by Anthony Bourdain. The film tells the story of Jeremiah Tower’s rise to fame and impact on the perception of the American Chef. Anthony Bourdain himself said “Jeremiah Tower’s menus made... a complete re-evaluation of not just American food and ingredients – but food.” November 6 - November 8, 2018 will be a rare opportunity to enjoy dishes by the legendary Chef Jeremiah Tower right here in Pasadena at the Parkway Grill.
